Nature scavenger hunt

How did you come up with the idea for this product?

We work for Sensory Trust, a charity based in Cornwall, UK. We are passionate about nature and the outdoors and we work to break down the barriers that prevent marginalised groups accessing the outdoors. A few years ago we set about designing games, activities and resources to encourage children of all ages and abilities to get outside, discover nature and have fun. When we created and started testing gofindit we knew we'd hit upon something special. Children of all ages and abilities connected with the game and started suggesting ways we could improve it and make it more fun and challenging. Over a period of six months we tweaked, tested and improved the game until we knew we had something that we want to share with the world.

What makes your product special?

gofindit was born out of a desire to help kids connect with nature and the outdoors, we believe that learning about your environment should happen through all of your senses not just your eyes. We have involved children of all abilities at every stage of product development. They challenged us to make a game that was both entertaining and accessible to all . All of our profits go straight back into our charitable work helping those less able to get outside and have a meaningful experience with nature.

What has been the best part of your experience?

The day our finished game arrived at our office was pretty emotional, all those long hours tweaking the design, sweating over our Kickstarter and making endless calculations faded into a distant memory. However the best part of the experience has been seeing the kids interact with the game. We recently used gofindit on a trip to a woodland with a class of inner city children with emotional and behvioural problems. Watching their behaviour change and confidence grow was a truly special moment.
