In 2007 to celebrate Presidents of the United States, the United States Mint released a special collection of Presidential $1 One Dollar Coins featuring their images in the order that they served.

Four new obverse designs are released per year, with each issue minted for about three months and then never again.

The obverses display the name and portrait of the featured president, his place in the order of service, and the years of his presidency.

The common reverse motif depicts the Statue of Liberty, the denomination stated as "$1" and the inscription.
