Historical context :

The Order of Ouissam or Alawite Wissam is a Moroccan honorary order created on January 11, 1913, then under the name of the Order of the Sherifian Alawite Ouissam, shortly after the establishment of the French protectorate and under the reign of Moulay Youssef. Like the Order of the Throne of Morocco, the Alawite Order of Ouissam is considered the equivalent of the national order of the Legion of Honor in France. For the record, Marshal Lyautey only wore on his full uniform, below the Military Medal, the two plaques of the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor and the Alaouite Cherifian Ouissam.

Description :

Very beautiful large cross / Ouissam Alaouite medal for commanding officer + its orange and white ribbon with fixing lace. White and red enamelled cross, golden borders, red enameled center + Moroccan inscriptions all topped with a laurel wreath. Some missing red enamel on the ends. (Look at the photos). With its very rare original orange ribbon in good condition, worn around the neck. Hallmarked on the ring : boar's head + diamond. With its patina and traces due to time. The small fixing ball between the ribbon and the medal is reminiscent of the French manufacturer '' Boulanger '', which was used extensively during WW1. Recalling the French Legion of Honor medal. Very pleasant to hold in the hands and even more pleasant to observe in the window. Very rare and 100% original.
