Offered for sale is another Victorian handmade hair wreath created through the art of hair work that was very popular during the mid -to-late Victorian period.

The wreath is composed of several different colors and textures of hair and may be either a memorial to someone who died, or made as a family memento comprising the he hair of many different family members. Many of these hair wreaths were meant to take a prominent place on display in the parlor, and I believe this was no exception as it is beautifully composed and mounted to a blue fabric background within the shadow box with a fancy oval gilt frame. A frame like this would’ve been the kind that housed an oil painting and would be very eye-catching in a fancy parlor.

The framed wreath measures 20” tall by 18” wide by 2 1/2” deep. It is a much more shallow shadow box than either of the other two I currently have listed as of yesterday.

This example is in very fine condition with some expected west to the gilt frame. Please see the photos as part of the description. If you have any questions please message me and I’ll be happy to be of help. I have both shipped and received many antique shadow boxes and Victorian arrangements under glass domes, do I can assure you that it will be handled and shipped with the best care. I have not packed this piece yet so am unsure of the exact cost to ship. I have added a flat rate shipping cost based on what I estimate from experience but will refund any overages to the buyer if I have estimated shipping too high. If I have charged too little, I will be responsible for paying the extra amount for you.
