1972 Ford Capri 5.0 302 V8 350BHP

An incredible Capri that needs finished.

This particular Capri may be recognisable by many classic Ford Capri enthusiasts here in the UK as it was one of the last cars constructed by Malcolm Darlow. He built up a reputation over the years for building one off custom vehicles, unfortunately Malcolm passed away in 2010 but his legend lives on in what can only be described as a stunning recreation of one of Fords most iconic motor cars ever.

I bought the car over three years ago with much of the custom interior removed and therefore set about putting a factory Capri interior in. It has brand new carpets fitted, excellent seats and brand new door cards and side panels still to be fitted. There is also a new Moto-Lita Shelby style wheel to be fitted. The clocks are brand new aftermarket items needed to work with the 302 V8 and and 5 speed Tremec gearbox.

The bodywork is in very good condition have been subject to a complete respray before I bought it.

The car is fitted with a 5.0 Litre 350 BHP engine that has been both balanced and blue printed and other features include high compression pistons with alloy Trick Flow Edelbrock cylinder heads. As a result this power plant can only be described as staggering! To transmit all this power to the rear wheels it has a racing clutch and a balanced flywheel which in turn are mated to a Mustang Gearbox and an 8'' Mustang rear axle with a limited slip differential.

Wisely, to harness all this power, the braking system has been modified and upgraded to discs all round along with adjustable suspension, as a result this Capri can handle as well as it goes.

Bits to do

The engine fires straight up, runs well and sounds absolutely amazing but it will need a new thermostat.

The interior bits need fitting such as side panels and steering wheel.

Headlights need fitting.

The car is a light project that needs these final bits done before it can hit the road again.

It will be a truly amazing car once finished.

I’m currently £25,000 into this vehicle so I’ve listed it at a more sensible price as I know its unfinished.

I just don’t have the time to complete and live abroad now.

Viewing can be arranged in Doncaster where the car is currently stored.
