Elongated Cent

US STAMPS SERIES
1857 Thirty Cent
BENJAMIN FRANKLIN

ADA-79

This offering is for an elongated cent similar to the one pictured. One of several different elongated stamp designs that Don Adams rolled.

Now retired, Don Adams was a commercial roller with a large client base. He was one of the early members of TEC and I believe he is a charter member. Mr. Adams designed and rolled a plethora of elongates. He destroyed most of his dies after he was finished satisfying his subscribers, thus assuring a limited number of pieces. . He covered many different subjects, stamps, coins, the US Bi-centennial are but a few. Some of his Type Coin issues are quite scarce, especially the ones depicting US silver type coins. I have found several different issues depicting stamps, coins and Bicentennial coins in my hoard. I'll list them as I can find them and take pictures.

I have communicated with him by e-mail, but have never talked with him.

Condition:
As rolled, pictured and described. While I endeavor to remove or make note of the ones in poor condition, an occasional elongate with a carbon spot or two cannot be ruled out. Most of the backs were coated with shoe polish to preserve the actual obverse of the coin, but once in awhile, an elongated with a blank back fell into the hopper.

About my elongated coin offerings:
These are vintage silver age items produced 25 - 45 years ago by the original designer, (sometimes engraver), and roller. Many of these rollers were Charter members of The Elongated Collectors (TEC). Most of these charter members no longer produced elongated issues after 1991. Most of the dies are are closed and canceled or rusted away. When these elongates are gone they are gone forever.
