This is a very elegant aneroid pocket barometer with a decorative enamel face, made in London during the early part of the 20th century.

A visually striking barometer, it's a nickel or silver plated Goliath model which is larger than most pocket examples and measures 65mm in diameter, not including the stem or suspension ring.

It comes in a green silk and velvet lined leather display case with a hammered solid silver cover hallmarked Chester, along with the letters HM which I believe may be for Henry Matthews of Vittoria Street, Birmingham. The date letter is a little too rubbed for me to identify clearly, but may be easier for silver collectors, (See Photo)

The barometeric scale ranges from 26 to 31 inches with the lettering and numbers in raised print on a very clean, white enamel dial, it also has a rotating bezel with a small guide marker to set the last measurement.

In full working order and in good cosmetic condition, the case measures 110mm x 105mm, has a fold away strut on the back for desk display and weighs less than 300 grams with the barometer in situ.

Please note the inner velvet holding ring has stretched a little over the years and some felt has been added to better keep the barometer in place.

Please study the photos as they are part of the description, and I will be happy to answer any questions if I can.
