From Peter Matthiessen, up for auction are three first printings of the First American Editions and a rare Uncorrected Proof Copy of some of his best works of fiction.

Far Tortuga (NY, Random House, 1975) - a first printing (stated First Edition with 2 in its print run per Random’s convention at the time) of Matthiessen's fifth novel in about very good condition. Binding is well intact and square but not tight – boards open easily.  Exterior top board edges are lightly soiled and crown has a touch of wear.  Turquoise top stain is uniform but a little faded.  Bottom page ends are lightly soiled.  Interior is fine with no names or errant marks.   Sans archival cover, the dust jacket is priced and in very good + condition with no chips or tears but slight wear to top front corner and some rubbing to panels.  Rear panel has minor soiling in spots.

Killing Mister Watson (NY, Random House, 1990) – a first printing (stated First Edition with 2 in its print run) in about very good condition.  Binding is square and reasonably firm but not as tight as fine.  Crown shows a little wear.  Spine has a minor short vertical wrinkle.  Corners are not bumped.  Page ends are clean.  Interior is fine with no names or errant marks.   In a brodart cover, the priced dust jacket is in fine condition with no chips or tears and a touch a rubbing.

Lost Man's River (NY, Random House, 1997) - the sequel to Killing Mr. Watson, a first printing in very good condition.  Binding is straight and firm but not as tight as fine.  Exterior boards are flawless and page ends are clean.  Interior is fine with no names or errant marks.   Sans brodart cover, the dust jacket is price clipped in very good + condition with no chips or tears but a short crease to inner edge of front fly leaf.

In Paradise (NY, Riverhead Books, 2014) - in printed wraps with French fly leaves, a stated Uncorrected Proof For Limited Distribution in fine condition.  Binding is well intact and straight with no flaws to exterior or interior (no marks or names).
