Description:

This is a wonderful, richly illustrated two-volume set by popular 19th-century historian John Frost, devoted to the history of the Ancient World and the Middle Ages. Volume I chronicles the golden age of the ancient empires of Egypt, Ethiopia, Greece and Rome. Volume II then describes the fall of the Western Empire during the Middle Ages, the rise of the Barbarians, the growing power of the Moors, the rule of Charlemagne, and Christianity’s fight to take back the Holy Land from Saracen invaders, a bloody campaign known as The Crusades.

This is a pictorial history, meaning both volumes are illustrated with many precise and detailed engravings showing dramatic scenes, landmarks and ruins from the ancient empires described in their numerous pages.

For your convenience, I have described the Contents and the Illustrations below. Farther down the page, you can see numerous examples of the many historical engravings contained in these volumes.

I hope you will take a moment to have a look.
