Jáquez Antonio Bermudez ( Chihuahua , Chihuahua , 13 of June of 1892 - Mexico City , October to February of 1977 ) was a businessman and politician Mexican ; General Director of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) and Municipal President of Ciudad Juárez where he significantly promoted the maquiladora sector . Antonio J. Bermúdez dedicated himself to various companies from a very young age, established a distillery that produced whiskey and was president of the Ciudad Juárez Chamber of Commerce from 1927 to 1929, Municipal President of Ciudad Juárez from 1942 to 1943 and in 1946 he was elected Senator for Chihuahua, however, he did not hold the position since President Miguel Alemán Valdés appointed him Director General of Pemex. He was subsequently appointed Director General of the National Border Program (PRONAF). He is remembered as the first great promoter of the maquiladoras in Ciudad Juárez, creating the first industrial park where they settled, today this is the main economic activity of the city.
