An Antique English Brass Coal Scuttle.

Made from hammered and planished heavy brass.

Dating from the very early 20th Century

English country made, probably made in a provincial workshop with a basic but very heavy and solid construction.

Full of manufacturing details.

Heavy brass fittings with copper rivets.

Fixed round strengthened ridged base.

Heavy rolled steel rim.

Made to last a lifetime or two.

Planishing and hammer marks.

Tarnish especially around brazing and fixing areas.

Remnants of black finish still in place inside the scuttle.

Cleaned and waxed to preserve the used finish.

A smaller sized scuttle most likely made for a smaller country home.

Height Excluding the folding handle is 11½ Inches x Width of 11 Inches - Base is 8 Inches in diameter.
