Our getaway car is a Volkswagen Campmobile. It's sort of a three-room house on wheels. There's a living room. Or dining room. Or bedroom. (Depending on how you set it up.) It's a mountain retreat. A private cabana. A cottage on the lake. (Depending on where you want to go.)

And it's nice going in a VW Campmobile. No hotel, motel, resort or restaurant bills. No reservations, packing or tipping porters. It's self-sufficient. Great for people who'd rather look at scenery than at No Vacancy signs. Great too, for quietyly stealing away. (People can't visit you if they can't find you.)

Any Standard VW Station Wagon, Kombi or Panel Truck can be a Campmobile with the right kit.
