I plugged the iron into the mains and it tested up perfectly within seconds.

Comes with a Coverite iron thermometer, you place it on the irons surface and set the temperature to the appropriate heat shrink covering you are using. It's the most accurate way of doing it so you don't burn a hole or over heat tge covering material.
