Description:
Oil on canvas. Signed with the artists monogram: Gabriel J. and dated 1924. Titled in Danish on the back: Ved Aaen I Sorgenfri Skov/ By the creek at Sorgenfri Forest. Stunning enchanted wild woodland scene with creek. Framed in its authentic golden salon frame. A fine oil by Danish Impressionist painter, Gabriel Jensen ( 1862-1930). A certificate of authenticity will be included with this works.

Condition:
Ready to hang. In good condition with no holes, tears or missing paint. The oil could use a light cleaning, due to the age. The original frame has minor scratches due to the age.

Gabriel Jensen ( 1862-1930)
Jensen was educated at the technical school of arts in 1887 and finished the royal academy of arts in 1890. Jensen was one of the academies favorite artists of the time and was featured every year in their exhibitions from the day he graduated in 1890 to his death in 1930. Jensen worked with landscapes and figure scenes, but it was his portraits that made him known. His portraits were known for their amazing details and life-like qualities and earned him many prizes like: Raben-Levetzau prize in 1892, Stoltenberg prize in 1897 and the bronze medallion at the world fair in Paris 1900. Jensen also worked at the Royal Academy there he worked as a professor from about1887-1890. Jensen worked and traveled in Germany and France from 1897 and in Italy from 1907. Exhibitions: charlottenborg: 1890-1931. – The artists fall exhibition: 1904-1910. – Art Exhibition, Sweden: 1897. – World fair in Paris: 1900. – The artist union: 1923-1930 and 1942.
