NICOLET 1866 RARE GUITAR-SHAPED VINTAGE 1980s UNISEX WRISTWATCH
Due to the current economic situation I am selling a cherished collection of high quality watches bequeathed by my late uncle, a man of good taste.
Listed for auction here is a vintage Nicolet 1886 unisex wristwatch from the 1980s.
This is a very rare watch. At the time of writing there is no other example for sale either on eBay or online in general.
I have been wearing it for the last 12 months and due to its distinctive unusual shape and fascinating eye-catching design, I've had more compliments and questions about it than any other watch I've ever worn, including Rolexes.
The watch was made during the 1980s by the high-quality Swiss manufacturer Armand Nicolet, a company founded in the late 1800s.
Model number: NT 322024.
It is in excellent working condition and keeps accurate time.
The stainless steel case is guitar-shaped, with a gold coloured tonneau bezel.
The clean, signed automatic movement can be seen through the skeleton-style exhibition caseback.
The movement features 21 jewels, which is indicative of a very well-made and hard-wearing timepiece.
The dial features a wavy, woven pattern, with Arabic numerals. The minutes are shown at five-minute intervals with baton markers in between.
Swords hands with a sweeping seconds hand.
There is with a date indicator at 3 o'clock and two subdials.
The top subdial is a power reserve indicator for the automatic movement, showing how much power is left in the mainspring – when it's at 40 the watch is fully wound, and when it's at zero it needs rewinding.
The bottom subdial is a 24-hour indicator.
These features are usually only found on very expensive watches.
The crown is signed.
The adjustable strap is an unusual combination of crocodile leather and a stainless steel deployant clasp.
The watch is water resistant to 5ATM (50 meters depth).
