The Long Drive-John Stathatos. London- Sydney Marathon rally 1977. Cowan .Hopkirk. Malkin, Fowkes, Broad etc.

Here we have a very scarce book which covers the London- Sydney Marathon rally of 1977 in great detail.

John Stathatos entered a private team of three Peugeot 504s, pitted against works teams and privateer entries from across the world to take on this challenge of covering 30,000 Km, in just 30 days. A huge ask even on tarmac roads, but they were on some of the roughest dirt roads.
In this book he describes the personalities of the rally, the terrain, the trials and tribulations that met the crews, and provides a section by section account of the placings, results for each class, stage penalties then final results.
Each car entered is featured in a photograph, along with a detailed entry list and plenty of action shots show the arduous conditions encountered.

This book has been in my collection since new, it is offered in  Good Condition, showing only minor age, the dust wrapper is free of tears, the colors are sharp, only some minor foxing along the top of some pages being worthy of note. inner pages are clean and tightly bound, no finger marking is evident.

This would be ideal for Rallying enthusiast, the owner of one of the vehicles that took part, and for the lucky owner of such a vehicle, this would make an excellent addition to the history file.

After a lengthy internet search, none are listed here, and none on the river site, or the American Big Exchange!!

I am thinning out my collection of Rallying books( some very rare) and tuning items, please take a look.

World wide post is offered, using the eBay GSP service.
