The Spyderco PM2 just got a whole lot better. Following the success of its big brother, Spyderco has decided to introduce the classic Paramilitary 2 with a partially serrated 52100 carbon steel blade and peel ply carbon fiber handle. This was a distributor Exclusive.

The Blade: Just under 3.5 inches in length, the blade of the PM2 consists of 52100 carbon steel with Spyderco's traditional round hole for easy opening. This has been flat ground and given a nice satin finish making it a nice slicer with extremely low drag while cutting. A partially serrated SpyderEdge section adds powerful performance against fibrous materials and thanks to the high toughness of 52100 they hold their very fine edge well. All of this rides on two bronze bushings for a smooth open and close with no blade wiggle. It is not a stainless steel and must be properly maintained to prevent corrosion.

The Handle: Peel ply carbon fiber scales house nested stainless steel liners which have been skeletonized to save weight. These scales have a small amount of texture, which provide great grip on the Paramilitary 2's ergonomic handle. Unlocking is made simple thanks to the compression lock; one of the strongest, safest locks on the market today.

About Exclusives: Much the same as a Sprint Run, a distributor exclusive is a limited production run with a variation on an established model. Exclusives differ in that they are produced for one customer or in conjunction with one customer and the Spyderco Factory Outlet Store (at the customer's request). These knives are produced in limited quantities (usually 600 or 1200 pieces) and are highly sought after by collectors. This is a great way for users to purchase an out-of-production favorite, or a regular line item with a new twist. We recommend acting fast on these knives, as some models sell out fast!

About 52100 Tool Steel: A high carbon steel (0.98-1.10) used primarily for ball bearings. Ball bearing steels traditionally have to withstand a great deal of force in a very small area. They make good edge steels because an edge also has to withstand much force in a small area. A very fine molecular structure permits very sharp edges, even at thin angles. It's similar to 5160, less tough but holds an edge better.
