1971 5 cent coin circulated. Appears to be a error coin. While the obverse detail is fine and normal the reverse is not. The embossing is off, blunt. The fingers, spikes and top left corner of the 5 is squashed with more effect on left side with high points. The whole reverse is this way. Nobody would have sat there rubbing it. A file and sandpaper would not create what you see. You can't squash one side without other once coin was created. There is no evidence of this under magnifying light. Try and simulate it then. Main pic you can compare with a 1970 5c coin for display purposes. I never seen anything like it. It's not impossible to do this in circulation but it would take a lot of time and craftsmanship to get to how it looks and who would bother. 98% most likely press punched this way and left the factory as you see it. You can be the judge? Any ideas? I been over it time after time and can't see any other conclusion. Anything else would be counterfeit. View pics.
