Beautiful, antique original Civil War boy’s period 2-piece set comprising a dress of rich blue cotton with short sleeves, cartridge-pleated waist set into waistband, along with a charming period perfect paletot jacket to wear with the dress. The entire set features a fancy brown soutache trim. The brown soutache braid marries beautifully with the blue fabric, making for a pretty color combination. I want to mention that the blue color is richer in person than I see in my photos. The color in the photos looks a little washed out. They are darker in person.

The paletot was very popular in its time and features drop shoulders and wide 3/4 length sleeves because the outfit would have been worn with undersleeves which would show nicely below the paletot sleeves.

I’m downsizing some of my long-time collection of historic clothing and accessories that I’ve collected for over 40 years. Please look at the photos as they are part of the description. There are a couple spots, some scattered areas of broken soutache, and some light fading in some spots that are really minor and are much less noticeable in person. I have this outfit displayed on a mannequin that features the size of a 4-5 year old boy. This is a VERY RARE survivor & a beautiful boys’ set in very fine condition. Boys clothing doesn’t survive as frequently as girls clothing.

Please reach out to me if you have any questions. I’m happy to help! I will also ship internationally so may everyone feel welcome! Thanks for taking time to stop by my auction!  The boy's black cap is not included in this auction. It's shown with the mannequin in a couple of photos.

I almost forgot to say that if someone chooses to buy-it-now, I will pay the shipping/insurance within the USA.
