This is a listing for Hutt PNCover Number 101, featuring the 1974 New Zealand Sterling Silver Proof One Dollar Coin Commemorating the Xth British Commonwealth Games to be held in Christchurch, New Zealand from January 24th to February 2nd, 1974.  This is Number 57 of 350 Proof Set PNCovers produced by Hutt of Wellington, New Zealand.  This PNCover contains the 1974 Proof New Zealand One Dollar ($1) Sterling Silver Coin. Only 8000 of these 1974 Proof Sets were minted.  Item # 321.

Description of First Day PNCover:

Producer or Issuer:  Hutt Commemoratives (Hutt Coin Co., Ltd.), Lower Hutt, New Zealand.

Cover Front:  On the upper (top) left hand side is "NEW ZEALAND" and "1974 PROOF SET" directly below. Below this is a red and blue art work depicting a athletic running on the red side and a swimmer on the blue side.  At the bottom left is a window displaying the reverse side of 1974 Sterling Silver One Dollar Proof Coin.  At the upper right hand corner is the New Zealand "New Zealand $1 GEOTHERMAL POWERstamp Postmarked and below this is the New Zealand "PHILATELIC BUREAU 24 JA 74 1 N.Z. WELLENGTON".  This was the first day release of the Sterling Proof $1 Coin. Lower right hand side is the Registered Stamp, "R No. 22 Philatelic Bureau Wellington (PHB)". At the very bottom right is, "Hutt Commemoratives, C/o Post Office, Wellington."

Cover Back: At the very top is description which states, "ONE DOLLAR ($1)" and "A Commemorative one dollar coin struck for the Xth British Commonwealth Games held in Christchurch, January – February, 1974.  The reverse design features the Games symbol surrounded by athletes portraying multi-racial characteristic.  This coin is .925 silver.  Professor Paul Beadle, of Auckland, New Zealand designed the reverse, and Arnold Machin, R.A., the obverse.”  At the bottom left is a square that contains, "No. 57 OF 350 PROOF SETS" and "Hutt PNC No. 101". At the lower right is the window which displays the obverse of the One Dollar Coin depicting Queen Elizabeth II.
