Rare Vintage Ceramic Stopper from Hotel Belmont in New York City. The stopper is made up of both Ceramic & Cork. The piece is in Very Good to Near Mint condition, especially for probably being over 100 years old. The whole stopper is only 1 1/4 inches wide and 1 3/4 inches long - see photos. The Belmont Hotel was built between 1904 and 1908. At 308 feet (94 m), it was the tallest hotel in the world when built and was demolished in 1939. The 42nd Street Airlines Terminal was built in its place. We are book people - not bottle people, so we did not try to clean the stopper. Overall, this would make an excellent condition to any collection. We bought this at an Estate Sale last summer. We also bought old books, comics, paper items, toys, glass ware, postcards, old bottles, etc., so watch for these items in the coming weeks. Shipping and Handling Costs: Due to the recent increase in the postage rates by the Post Office, we have been forced to raise our shipping rates, sorry. The Buyer pays $6.00 for First Class shipping and it will be shipped in a padded box. Or pay $18.00 for the Priority Mail boxes provided by the Post Office. Insurance and other options can be added for additional costs to the buyer, if he or she would care to do so.
