This Two cent  dark Blue was commissioned by the Confederate Government along with a Five cent Blue, and a Ten cent Carmine in 1862. Three of the stamp plates were made  in the  U.K. by Thomas DeLaRue. The Two cent value and the Ten cent value were shipped to the Confederate Government but were never used. The Five cent blue however was shipped to Richmond and was used as a single and later as a  pair to equal the new postage rate of Ten cents. The U.K. prints were clear and well defined. When the U.K. stamps ran out, a local printing of the 5 cent blue from the plates was produced, and the colour was often "muddy" and the  image was a bit dull ! This copy of the Two cent Blue was made from the original Plates in 1924. I assume someplace in the U.S.. perhaps Georgia.
