dead at home. The men built pine or maple boxes,
the women washed and dressed the departed, and
families held their wakes in their parlors. After paying
final respects, the deceased was taken by horse and
buggie to the local cemetery or buried in the family plot
located somewhere on the
property. It was common
for
rural households to have the necessary carpentry
supplies on hand. Our rural household was no different.

kept in a Mason Jar. They are still in that Mason Jar today.

pull old used nails from. These nails were never used.
