NAVAJO FOLK ART COWBOY RIDING A PIG BY DELBERT BUCK

Whimsical folk art by Navajo artist Delbert Buck.  Fabulous colors and designs throughout the piece.  Delbert started to make folk art in 1988, when he just 12 years old.  He uses cottonwood and found objects, such as wool, paper, yarn, and fabric to create his whimsical pieces.  His folk art is inspired by the ordinary aspects of daily life infused with humor.   From sheep driving cars to bucking broncos, Delbert’s folk art brings joy to the collector and his art will be a great addition to any Native American or Navajo folk art collection.  Signed

In recent years, wood figurines hand carved by self-taught Navajo artists have developed into Navajo Folk Art.  These carvings of traditional personal images and indigenous animals are characteristic of the cultural integrity on the Navajo people.  Strong cultural values provide for and sustain the artistic traditions of the Navajo.
