Vintage 1973 Mattel Big Jim Rescue Rig, for 9" Action Figures, Near Complete

This is a great vintage toy made in 1973 by Mattel, as part of their Big Jim line. This is the rescue rig and it comes with many of the accessories and original instructions. All of the moving parts are fully functioning, including the windshield, the three door locks on the sides, and the rooftop winch and the boom. Included are:

- The truck itself with all original parts, including the steering wheel, windshield, the winch, boom, and roof lights and siren part.

- The intensive care unit snap on that goes on the back.

- The rescue basket with hook and lifting strap.

- These accessories: ladder, shovel, pike, axe, pick, chain saw and rescue drill.

- The talking communications center.

- The original instructing booklet, all complete with no tears.

According to the instructions, the following items are MISSING: the walkie- talkie accessory, the rescue light accessory, the short antenna for the vehicle roof, and the long antenna for the talking communications center. In addition, there were stickers/labels that went on the lights, wheels and a large communications center label that went on the back of the truck under the intensive care unit snap on. Of these, all are MISSING except the mag wheel stickers on the front tires.

Condition: please read carefully and ask any questions before bidding; also, please see all pictures in the listing.

This piece is in nice condition, with good color and no tears or damage to the body of the vehicle. The windshield is a bit discolored with age but it’s still pretty clear, enough to see the inside and any figures. The only noteworthy issues are with the talking communications center and the snap on intensive care unit. I battery tested the talking communications center and it doesn’t work. Not sure what the issue may be, as the battery port is really clean with no corrosion. It does look as if the negative contact is not being made, so it may be that a piece has broken off inside. Regarding the snap on intensive care unit, it cannot snap on in all four spots. I am not sure if this is from the plastic aging or if the toy was put together where it is not square enough to line up all four snaps. However, if you snap the top snap on the drivers side FIRST, you can snap on the bottom snap on the passenger side - thus holding the insert on. It looks good and is still totally functional as a play toy.

This is a great piece, especially if you have the parts to complete it.
