This listing is for a vintage, high quality 1984 Pewter & Slag Glass Decorative Plate from Michael Ricker. This impressive round pewter plate measures 8” across and weighs almost 5 pounds.

This Limited Edition pewter plate is numbered 3,249 out of 3,650. The scene captures the essence of Southern hospitality. In the center is a Christmas wreath hung over the fireplace, a sweet girl next to a Christmas tree holding a stocking with 1984 on it and a dog wearing/latching on to a Christmas stocking. A little bunny (or deer) pops onto the scene for an added touch of playfulness. The stag glass used as windows gives this pewter plate some color and visual contrast.

This decorative plate can be displayed either with a plate stand or hung on the wall (with the hole on back side of plate).

This Michael Anthony Ricker 1984 Southern Christmas Plate is in great pre-owned condition. There are no chips or cracks.

About the artist:

American sculptor Michael Ricker learned the art of molding and casting pewter from his father-in-law. The most famous Michael Ricker sculpture is a large scale model of a 19th century town entitled Park City: America Remembered, done in pewter for President Gerald Ford. Park City, a 30 foot by 10 foot miniature town depicting life at the turn of the 19th century, was completed in 1986 and presented to former President Gerald Ford at a gala event in Denver that attracted thousands of collectors from all over the country. Ford graciously accepted the 'key' to Park City and promised a home for the masterpiece in the Smithsonian Institute.

After the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York City, Michael Ricker's sculptures of fire fighters, police officers, and the Statue of Liberty saw an increase in sales. Michael Ricker figurines for sale also include those of young children, and he often donated figures to benefit children’s charities.

Perhaps more important than his work as a talented artist, Michael was also a tireless philanthropist. Ricker passed away in 2006, and his brother and sister created the company known as Designs By Ricker, where they continue to carry on production of his fabulous work.
