Lledo Models of Days Gone

1931 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Brewster
Cream Special Edition - Very Rare

Jack Odell, one of the founders of the Matchbox diecast company, founded Lledo (Odell backwards) in 1982, and launched the "Days Gone" range of models in 1983, taking over a market previously popularised by the Matchbox "Models of Yesteryear" series. Models produced by the Enfield-based company became popular among collectors worldwide.

Lledo specialised in the Promotional market, making models for companies and organisations who wanted to have their own logo or livery on a model.

This model depicts a 1931 Rolls-Royce Phantom "Brewster". Finished in an all-over cream colour scheme, this is one of only 108 such models that were made. A few of these models were retained at the factory, where they were mounted on to wooden plinths and given to VIP guests at the 50th birthday party of Lledo Managing Director Bert Russell. The remainder (not plinth-mounted) were given to members of the "Trade", who were invited annually to the Lledo factory to have a preview of the coming year's new models. On their visit in late 1985, each was presented with one of these special Rolls Royce models.

So few of this model exist that it was never even allocated an official factory reference number, although it is listed in the Lledo Collectors Guide, and was mentioned in the "Lledo Calling" magazine, as the publishers felt that serious collectors would want to know of its existence even if they were never likely to own one! Here is a rare opportunity to acquire this very elusive model.

Excellent pre-owned condition, in original box. Box has very light wear, but is generally excellent, with no serious rips or splits. Model itself is clean and appears to be in near-mint condition, only being taken out of the box to photograph. See photos - all photos show actual item.
