You are bidding on three beautiful letters from Landau (Palatinate), dated 1848-52.

Written by the Landau bookseller and Bookbinder Jakob Christoph Jelito (born 5. November 1790 in Landau, died. 15. April 1852), son of the master locksmith Johann Jacob Jelito (1752-1833) and his wife Maria Magdalena, née. Hunchback.

Addressed to his son Adolph.

George Heinrich Adolph Jelito was born on the 11th. June 1832 in Landau as the son of the bookbinder Jakob Christoph Jelito and his wife Margeretha Rosina née. Krauss was born. He first studied chemistry in Würzburg (member of the Corps Rhenania), then in 1855 he moved to Herschberg and studied medicine there.

1.) Letter Landau, 7. October 1848 (2 p., 21.5 x 17.5 cm). Reminders when sending clothes from the tailor Voß, "which turned out very beautifully, which is why I expect you to take care of them so that they stay clean and don't wear them on every occasion and get dirty and stained, as was your habit, because Not only do they cost a lot of money, but one also judges a person's dress and cleanliness as well as their education and moral behavior."

Then inquires about school (Adolph attends the Polytechnic School in Karlsruhe) and warns against bad company. He mentions the suicide of old Mr. Eichborn, "father of Eichborn, who has Valiert and has gone to America."

2.) Letter Landau, 10. June 1850 (1 p., 20 x 13.3 cm). Congratulations on your 18th Birthday the following day, he receives 5 guilders along with fatherly advice and admonitions for life. Then a short report on the death and funeral of the city and fortress commander, General Karl v. Plumbing (1787-1850).

Charles V. Plummern fell from his horse, broke his leg and died; Popular opinion saw this death as a just punishment for the fatal corporal punishment of a sergeant who died on the same day as him, or for the execution of Count Theodor Fugger von Glött (1823-1850).

3.) Letter Landau, 21. March 1852 (1 p., 21.3 x 12.8 cm). About sending 36 guilders for room and board as well as travel expenses. Brother Emil will soon be confirmed.

ChristopherEmil Jelito was born on the 27th. Born in Landau in September 1838. He married on the 25th. June 1874 Katharina Amanda Schwenck (née 17. February 1854 in Landau, died. 20. December 1906 ibid.), daughter of the landowner Johann Jakob Schwenck. By profession he was a senior district judge, and in 1874 he can be identified as a police lawyer in Bergzabern. He died on the 22nd. September 1919 in Landau.

Enclosed is a letter from Adolph Jelito to his brother Emil, dated Karlsruhe, 21. November 1848 (just over one page, 21.3 x 13.3 cm).
