The Navy in the War of William III 1689-1697. John Ehrman. Cambridge at the University Press: 1953. Very Large tome, 710 pages and weighs just shy of 1.5kg.

First published in 1953, this volume by John Ehrman traces the role played by the English navy during the years 1689–97, during which time England became the dominant sea power of Europe. The study is divided into two parts. The first focuses on the background of naval administration, considering ships of the line and their construction, shipyards and dockyards, naval personnel, provisions, finances, and the Lord Admiral's department at the end of 1688. The second part provides the context of the war, beginning with the legacy of Samuel Pepys and the initial mobilization in 1688, and then tracing the successive years of war to the eventual demobilization in 1697. Replete with numerous illustrations and fourteen detailed appendices, this volume will appeal to anyone interested in the naval history of England at the end of the seventeenth century.

The book is in what I consider to be good used order. Case of book is sound. Dustjacket is complete but does show age related wear/tears. Not price clipped 63 shillings (or three guineas). Please see first two images. Bound in blue cloth with gilt title to spine. Boards and spine show only light age related wear/marks, apart from a small area of sunning to the very bottom of the spine. Front hinge is sound (third image) as is rear hinge. Generally bright and clean internally, still tightly bound. The closed book block does show a number of age spots to the top and side, bottom is relatively clear. Overall a clean used copy. Please be aware this is a vintage item, 70+ years old, & will show signs of age and use throughout. I am happy to answer any queries you may have in relation to the title, will do my best to answer same day. Will include FREE careful postage and packing via Royal Mail. Thank you.

I'm the (not so) fortunate nominee chosen to dispose of a large collection of books that have been in our family for many years. We've also moved house recently and I've made up my mind to make (some) inroads into our own collection of books. Some weird and wonderful titles, many very rare, particularly from the family library. I'll be listing them whenever time allows. Please keep dipping into the listings as I'm working my way through a large assortment of different books (and some other small/postable items). Any book dealers/collectors that would be interested in offering on a number of books, in one lot, then I will always do my best to shave the price by as much as possible. This would only apply to books listed as B.I.N. (I'll let the auctions run to give a fair chance to anyone interested). Please just get in touch with a list of what you're interested in and I'll get back to you with a price...same day in most cases. Thank you.

I have given what I consider to be a fair and accurate description but if you have any questions at all about anything, please just ask.....before bidding. Please study the large images above to get an idea of the condition of the item........as usual any questions I am very happy to respond. Book(s) will always be carefully packed. I always obtain a proof of posting from the Post Office when your item(s) is/are dispatched.
