Gordon Smith GS1 P90 Special Edition Dakota Red 2009 Electric Guitar

Here for sale we have a Gordon Smith GS1 P90 in Dakota Red finish. Made in the UK in 2009, this guitar is part of a special run made specially for Forsyth Music in Manchester. A set neck construction is employed, and comprises a Mahogany body, Mahogany neck and 21 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Nickel hardware is fitted and includes a wrap-around hardtail bridge and sealed tuning machines, as well as a Brass nut. A single Gordon Smith P90 pickup is fitted in the bridge position, and is wired to master volume and tone controls.

The Mahogany neck plays very well, with a moderately sized profile that might be described as a 'C' shape. Certainly, the neck is more slender than you might expect with a guitar of this style, promoting ergonomic thumb positioning and articulate playing in all registers. The Rosewood fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers, and with its 14" radius is highly practical for a wide range of styles and playing techniques. The double cutaway body design and slim body profile enhance access to the upper register, meaning you can make full use of all 22 frets.

The single P90 pickup installed in the bridge position delivers a surprisingly full-bodied tone, with a searing output that drives the front end of an amp very well. Being in the bridge position, the pickup is nice and bright which helps your playing to cut through the mix with ease. The controls are well set out, simple and nicely responsive, allowing you to dial in a wide range of tones right on the guitar. A well made no-frills workhorse guitar that can cover a lot of ground.
