When Lucas stumbles across a magic stick one day, he discovers that the special powers of the stick can make wishes come true. Lucas uses the stick for the benefit of his friends, and experiences the joy of sharing, but also learns an important lesson along the way. For children 2-8 years of age, this is the first in a series of stories told by Lucas, a six year old Caribbean child. Typical of today's children, Lucas is caught between the land of TV, ipads and reality, and his active imagination carries us into a tropical jungle, in this first adventure. The story tells a tale of friendship, generosity, and gratitude, and recounts the simple joys of being a child through rhythmic prose and beautiful, quirky illustrations. This is a book that your young children will love to have read to them, and one which they too can start reading themselves in their Early Reader years.
Rowena Gail Coe, born in Jamaica, is a researcher by profession, a small business owner, and a mother of one. She was inspired by her son, who one day at bedtime, asked that they make up their own story rather than read from one of his many books. The story evolved, and because Rowena felt that there are never enough children's stories featuring Caribbean children to be found, she set about getting this story published.
