I started writing ER way back in 1974 as evidence of my experiences as a medical student in the emergency room of a hospital. But it wasn't until the fall of 1994, 20 years later, that these stories reappeared in the form of a new television series. Surely this may be considered the longest creative birth in the history of modern television, but it was worth it. Audiences found the series engaging, innovative and highly realistic, so much so that it attracted a loyal following from the very first episode. But if the past had been amazing, the future would be even more so: none of us involved in the initial making of ER could have ever imagined its great and enduring success as one of the best and most popular programs in the history of television. From its inception to the exciting present, ER has always been an exciting experience for me and I believe for the audience as well. Good vision!
