Description: 
This is a Bizen-ware(*) vessel made by a very reputable and experienced potter . It is ideal for a bud flower pot. It also can be used as a Sake Flask to enjoy Japanese Sake in hot or cold.  Of course, you can use it in any ways with your creative idea such as a small vase. 

* Bizen-ware is a stoneware, which is made of a special clay (available only in Bizen area) and baked at very high temperature (1,200~1,300 degrees Celsius). It does not use or apply any glaze before baking. The glaze naturally develops in the kiln from ash of tree and elements contained in the clay. Thus, it looks very natural and primitive. Stoneware is still produced in Japan, because it is loved by the people who practice tea ceremony. 

The potter is HARADA Tohgetsu the 1st. He was born in 1917 in Bizen and grew to a reputable and respected potter. He won many honarable awards in his life. 

It looks like just cam out from the artist's kiln. The surface is very rough and sharp. Excellent item for you to know how a Bizen-ware work looks like when it came out form the kiln. It has very rich Keshiki (景色 in Japanese / scenery or texture in English), i.e., many different colors, patterns and touches. When it is wet (by water), colors change as shown in the photo # 10 and 11. 

It is not used in excellent condition.
