This is a listing for a Nuphil Nu72 PNCover with the 1974 New Zealand Proof Coin Set in its original plastic case within the First Day Cover.  Item # 250

 

Registered Number is in left upper corner.  Registered at CHRISTCHURCH.  The Registered Number is 713.  This set is number 13 of 35 issued.  The cancellation stamp/mark states, "CHRISTCHURCH N.Z.   7 AUG  1974   FIRST DAY OF ISSUE   HEALTH 1974".  The stamps are a 1974 "Health 1c  Postage 4c", "Health 1c  Postage 5c", and "X Bristish Commenwealth Games  23C".  At the lower right hand corner is the address of Nuphil, "Nuphil Assoicates Ltd.  P. O. Box 7053, Sydenham, Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND."  At the lower & center left is the window displaying the reverse of the 1974 New Zealand Proof Coin Set.

 

This 1974 proof set contains the New Zealand Commonwealth Games $1 Silver (.84 oz) Proof Coin.  There is a total of 7 coins in this proof set.  The cover is made of red cardboard and is sealed.  The back of the red cover lower left is the series number, "Nu72 No. 13 of 35 issued".

 

This comes with a Nuphil Nu-STORYCARD.  The Nu-STORYCARD is also a first day cover card.  On the front right hand side is the New Zealand 1974 "Health 1c   Postage 3c" stamp.  The cancellation stamp/mark is, "CHRISTCHURCH N.Z.   7 AUG  1974   FIRST DAY OF ISSUE   HEALTH 1974".  Attached to the front of the The Nu-STORYCARD is the RECEIPT FOR REGISTERED MAIL NO 713 with the cancellation stamp/mark, "CHRISTCHURCH N.Z.   7 AUG  1974   FIRST DAY OF ISSUE   HEALTH 1974".  The back of the Nu-STORYCARD is the description of the 1974 Proof Set as issued by the New Zealand Treasury.  It states, "Proof Coin Set issued by the New Zealand Treasury", "DESCRIPTION OF DESIGNS".  Following this each coins is listed with a description.  The ONE DOLLAR description is as follows, "ONE DOLLAR ($1) diameter 1.525 ins.  SILVER.  The reverse was designed by New Zealand sculptor and design Professor Paul Beadle of Auckland University and consist of emblem of the 1974 Commonwealth Games in the center surrounded by eight running figures four of which bear poles supporting the emblem.  The whole design encircled by the inscription 'X BRISTISH COMMONWEALTH GAMES CHRISTCHURCH' and the words 'ONE DOLLAR'.  The effigy of Her Majesty the Queen on all coins is by Arnold Machin, O.B.E. of London.  The reverse designs of the 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c, 20, 50c coins are by James Berry, O.B.E.,  F.R.N.S.N.Z., OF Wellington, N.Z."  At the very bottom is, "A. R. Shearer, Government Printer, Wellington,  New Zealand -1973", and "28672B - 9,000/5/73 D".

 

Total Mintage of the 1974 7 Coin Proof Set by the New Zealand Treasury was 8,000 sets.  Nuphil produced only 35 sets.  EXTREMELY RARE.
