Antique 19th Century Japanese Kaizan Satsuma Bowl.
Dates to the late 19th Century during the Meiji Period (1868-1912).
Superb detail on the bowl as can be seen in the photos with fine painting and beautiful colours.
The inside is painted with the 1000 butterfly pattern and the outside is such high quality with stunning detail by the best artists such fine detail.
Signed on the base for Kaizan.
It actually reads Kaizan-sei (made/manufactured) as Kaizan was a merchant that commissioned works on special orders using the highest quality artists available and he wasn't the actual artist that produced the quality pieces.
Very rare and high quality.
The bowl has been broken in its past and professionally repaired.
Measures almost 4¼ cm's high and 7¼ cm's diameter.
The bowl has been damaged but looks in good condition which can be seen and studied in the photos. The painting is outstanding and detail is superb.
Looks stunning on display and makes a nice add to a collection.
