First Edition. A colourful accurate account of the days when Bentleys dominated the field at Le Mans, 1925 to 1930.

This book provides a detailed account of each of the 24 hour races that the Bentleys entered.
There is a centre section of photographs from each of the years from 1924, to 1930 showing the cars in action, during pit stops, during the night, and victorious at the finish. Rare photos of the cars competing with their "tops up", are included.

Every Bentley that took part during those years is included.

Written by J Dudley Benjafield in a most informed manner, himself a "Bentley boy", he had the inside track on all things Bentley and took part in these gruelling races himself, bringing a drivers eye view to this excellent book.
Foreword is by victorious driver WOOLF BARNATO

World post via ebay GSP is offered.

The discerning previous owner of this book had it bound in leather with hard covers and spine. It is offered in exceptional condition and would be a notable addition to the library of the Bentley enthusiast. A clipped obituary for Dr J D Benjafield dated 30, 1, 1957 is included, as well as one for Sammy Davis dated 10th Jan 1981, who, it reports. perished in a fire at his Surrey home.
An appendix provides a comparison of the leading Mercedes and the winning Bentley at the 1930 event, providing lap by lap times. This makes fascinating reading, with remarks on pit stops, etc. After a nip and tuck battle, where the lead changed frequently, the Mercedes eventually succumbed to a flat battery, the Bentley going on to a glorious and historic victory.
