Vintage Elephant Trunk Down Polka Dot Bandana

1940s Elephant Trunk Down "Bandanna" made in New York City, NY, by Davis & Catterall.  Dyed Indigo Blue bandana with white dots measures approximately 20 1/2" x 23", is machine hemmed on 3 sides, and has an Elephant logo between the words, "Fast Color."

Original, authentic Elephant brand logo shows the outline of an elephant with its trunk pointing down; that dates the bandana between 1910 and 1950.  In 1950 the company was sold in and the logo changed to having the Elephant's trunk pointing up.  In 1980 Elephant Brand Bandannas were no longer made.  Bandanas sold as "Elephant Brand" with elephant logos filled-in with color are not original, vintage or Davis & Catterall made in the U.S.A. Bandannas.

Vintage bandana is in wonderful used condition.  Some of the machine hemmed edging is starting to fray and some of that can be seen in close-up photos.  There is a teeny tiny dot of a hole above the logo, and a very small area where the threads are separating -- making it look like a hole -- that I tried to show in last photograph, top of bandana in the middle.
