A rare edition of a book by Johnny viney it includes a dictionary of navy slang. it's written in the form of salty letters and it's a whimsical look at a sailor's life with cartoon drawings. first edition published by M S Mill company In 1943. This one has the very rare dust jacket which is intact, showing wear,  and a few tears but now protected in archival mylar. the free front end paper has in pencil: one musical taff with notes and name signed in pencil. Bright blue cover decorated and illustrated in white in very good condition overall. Included in this auction is a small Viking press volume of as you were a portable library of American pros and poetry assembled for members of the armed forces and the merchant Marine, edited by Alexander Wolcott and published by Viking in 1945. This book also has its lovely illustrated dust jacket also whimsical. I have included photos of the great reading it contains within. This book also in very good condition bright blue with decorative eagle carrying a mailbag on the front cover and bars and stars and lettering to the spine all in a darker navy blue.
