  • Some trivial information:
    • One of the greatest marketing logos and branding ever made.
    • Target Corporation is an American retail corporation that operates a chain of discount department stores and hypermarkets, headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.
    • The Target Corporation brand mascot is a Bull Terrier Dog called Bullseye. Previously the mascot was known as Spot. Bull Terriers were historically bred for rodent control and bloodsports. They are considered stubborn and obstinate, but great for experienced dog owners.
    • Even more interesting side note: the world Bullseye comes from the process of making flat Crown Glass. When processing the glass the center of the sheet would be the thickest and a circle pattern would appear, this piece usually wasn't clear. The glass closed to the outside edges was clearer, thinner and more expensive. The bullseye was used for cheaper windows. The glass was known to be made in the 1300's by the French and they used the term œil-de-bœuf directly translates as eye-of-the-ox, then bull's eye, and simply today bullseye.
    • Ancient buildings had an oculus, an opening in the wall or ceiling to let in light, water, & air and let out smoke & fumes. Eventually when glass was invented some of these got covered. Porte holes on ships also were called bullseyes. Porte is French for Door.
    • The bullseye piece of glass also makes a type of lenses and can focus light. If a lantern or a window had a bullseyes, it could be used to find a target at night by focusing light.
    • Then recently, in the 1800's when archery became more formalized and written rules, the term bullseye became documented on a target.
