The back of the pad will look familiar, as the strapping has carried over from the Ritual G3 and Ritual GT with the sling wrap on the knee and calf wrap and active response boot and toe straps. This strapping system has proven to provide optimal feel and response from the leg pads and allow the goalie to dial in the right fit for their style.
Though the strapping on the Ritual G4 Pro leg pads has remained the same the leg channel has been given some significant upgrades. Warrior has introduced the 360-degree Active Drop on the R/G4 Pro leg pads to enhance 5-hole coverage. Conventional leg pads will keep the leg centered in the pad while the goalie is in an upright stance, and we have seen some goaltenders wear their pads extremely loose because of this to compensate. So the 360-degree Active Drop leg channel encourages the knee and thigh segments of the pad to drop lower covering more 5-hole while the goalie is in an upright stance and during butterfly slide transitions. The Ritual G4 Pro leg pads with the 360-degree Active Drop technology will allow goaltenders to wear the pad with the fit they prefer, whether that be tighter or looser, and still have the benefit of having the pad close the 5-hole more efficiently and not lose any response from the leg pad.
Moving onto the landing surface of the pad, the Ritual G4 Pro leg pads feature the new Airslide technology. The new Airslide technology is an engineered channel on the knee and calf portions of the sliding surface that decreases friction by reducing surface area that contacts the ice. The R/G4 Pro leg pads will slide faster for longer with the Airslide channels, especially through rough and snowy ice conditions late in the game. The diagonal orientation of the channels will force snow to flow through resulting in less friction and a faster slide.
The structure on the Ritual G4 Pro leg pads has received some updates as well to both reduce weight and increase performance. The outer roll on the R/G4 Pro leg pads has been slimmed down in size, especially at the toe break. With the increasing use and popularity of the RVH save selection the reduced outer roll helps seal the pad to the post when in an RVH position. Where a traditional outer roll creates a gap between the pad and the post when in a RVH which may allow a puck to sneak into, the Ritual G4 Pro leg pads will seal that gap off. The thigh-rise on the R/G4 Pro leg pads has a new HyperComp reinforcement that will both reduce weight and provide a strong 5-hole seal that ensures no shots will force their way through.
