SONGS OF THE SADDLEMEN

By

S. Omar Barker

Denver: Sage Books, 1954

Scare first printing of this classic of cowboy poetry by New Mexico's S. Omar Barker (1894-1985) -- and even scarcer with the first state dust jacket. Contains a foreword by Fred Gipson (1908-1967), the author of Old Yeller. A total of 112 pages printing dozens of Barker's best poems, including "Code of the Cow Country," "The Empty Bunk," "A Cowboy's Christmas Prayer," "The Cowboy's Saddle," "Wearin' Daddy's Hat," "The Mustang Bay," and many, many more. A must-have for the collector of cowboy and western poetry.

Book is in very good-plus condition. No marks or underlining to text. Not ex-library. Dust Jacket has some chips and tears with a piece three-inch piece missing from spine and part of rear cover. Does not affect cover illustration or publisher's text. "Sunset Motel" written faintly in pencil on rear jacket cover. Copies in this nice condition rarely come up for sale. SEE PHOTOS.
