You are looking at a very rare Tag Heuer. This is the black faced Tag Heuer 980.022 men's 1000 professional watch. This watch is a true survivor. What makes it super rare is that it is the Jumbo XL version of the 1000 men's models. I am a Tag Heuer collector and I own over 225 Tag Heuer watches. I currently have quite a few for sale. It was simply time to clean out the closet. This model is best known for being the watch Leonardo DiCaprio wore in the movie "Wolf of Wall Street". It is the jumbo men's Monnin size TAG watch with a case size of about 42mm (45mm crown included). The crystal is in very good condition with a few fine scratches. The back casing is in good condition with typical light wear scratches. The gold plating is worn on the back of the case near the crown area. The bracelet is a brand new aftermarket stainless steel and gold plated jubilee band. The bracelet and clasp are in perfect unworn condition. The bezel is in very good condition with light scratches. The hands and hour markers look great. I would rate this true survivor as a solid 9 out of 10 in condition. These are hard to grade since you don't see any for sale. This is the nicest example of a 980.022 I have seen in a long time. Most are beat up, but not this one. This one is ready to wear. This watch was made around the time of the Tag Heuer merger. It has the TAG logo on the dial and the box, yet it still has a Heuer back casing. That makes it even more desirable. The watch will fit up to an 8 inch wrist. The bezel turns and clicks in the counter clockwise direction, as it should. It is quartz movement. My local watchmaker just completely serviced the watch. It is ready to go another 30 years. I always recommend having the seals tested before wearing in water. I do not guarantee water resistance in a watch of this age. Please see all of my other Tag Heuers for sale.
