Description:
Oil on canvas, mounted on board. Signed with the artists monogram: Eel. Fine cityscape from the coastal city, Koge. Located southwest of Copenhagen. Denmark. Age: Ca. 1930s. Fine post impressionist oil with couples and children taking a stroll in the park. Framed in its authentic golden salon frame. A fine oil by Danish painter, Knud Eel (1914-1968). A certificate of authenticity will be included with this works.
Condition:
Ready to hang. In good condition with no holes, tears or missing paint. The oil could use a light cleaning, due to the age. The original frame has minor scratches due to the age.
Knud Eel (1914-1968)
Danish painter and graphic designer born in Hellested in 1914. Private pupil of professor Axel Bredsdorff from 1930. Educated at the Royal Art Academy under professor Aksel Jorgensen in 1935. He was one of the few who continued the tradition of the Skagen painters and painted early on in a post-impressionist style as well as cubism. In his later years he was known as the “Han Herred Painter” due to his series of modernist landscapes done in Han Herred, North Jutland. Known as the "the land between sea and fjord" From 1958, until his death in 1968, he illustrated several books on the Jutland landscape.
