Rare Vintage Daikokuten Lucky God of Fortune Statue Japanese Satsuma Ceramic

 

An attractive large statue of the Japanese lucky god Daikokuten – in seated sleeping pose. This rare piece features fine glazed detailing, which covers all sides of the statue.

 

Daikokuten () is a syncretic Japanese deity of fortune and wealth. Daikokuten originated from Mahakala, the buddhist version of the Hindu deity Shiva, conflated with the native Shinto god Okuninushi.

 

 

Approx. Measurements: 16.5cm High – 14cm base.
