This is an original movie theater mylar that measures at 2.5 x 11.675 inches.

This is the Box Office mylar used to exhibit the show times for films and is for a theatrical re-release of this movie.

Please make sure you understand the measurements of this mylar. Don't be that guy that leaves a bad feedback, or demands a refund, because they didn't understand the dimensions of this piece.

Classic films are sometimes re-released to theaters, usually many years after their original release date. Most of the time this is for Fathom Events, but there are certainly other cases of films being re-released in theaters, such as Repertory Theaters and even smaller Mom & Pop theaters. When showing the newest big movie releases, movie theaters have to surrender up to 90% of their ticket sales. While the big theater chains can afford to lose this gross, the smaller theaters cannot so they rent older / classic film titles from the studios at a much more affordable rental fee. When these classic titles are re-released, the studios issue mylars to those theaters showing the film. This mylar is from one such case.
All mylars were acquired directly from a movie theater, so some may have some minor wear.

A brief history lesson of mylars:

Prior to 1989, movie theaters did not use mylars. Mylars were created as a response to the multiplex explosion of the late 1980s. No longer using just 1-2 screens, movie theaters now found themselves with multiple screens and a need to be able to direct patrons to their correct theater, so they created the movie mylar.

Designed as a sort of mini-poster, mylars are used primarily in two places: The first is the Small mylar which is placed above the box office to give a listing of that film's current show times. The second is the Large mylar that is hung above the theater doorways to help direct patrons to their correct theater.

Most theaters no longer use mylars, as they have converted over to digital displays, so finding mylars is becoming an increasingly more difficult task.

Mylars are made of a thicker material than most movie theater one-sheet posters, designed to be more durable as a movie changes theater houses throughout its theatrical run. Movie mylars were only created double-sided from 1996-2012, however that is not always the case as there are mylars from this time period that were issued as single sided. If single / double sided is a concern for you, please ask before bidding. Certain classic films have also been re-issued throughout the years, so if you run across a mylar for a film released in 1980, it is a re-issue as no mylars were made prior to 1989.

My mylars are usually purchased as salvage from closed or closing movie theaters. Because of this I am unable to ascertain an exact time period in which the mylar was displayed.
