I'm offering today an adorable vintage baby doll that looks a lot like the Vogue Baby Dear doll from the 1960's era.  She has meticulously hand painted blackish/blue eyes with white pupils, just like that of the original Baby Dear.  She has that look of a newborn with little "squinting" eyes.  This sweet little baby is approximately 18" in length.  She has a clean, restored soft body with vinyl head, legs and arms.  When this little baby came to me, she was so pitiful and had to be completely torn apart, because of all the loving she took from her many mommies over these past 60 years.  Her body had to be soaked for several days to remove all the collected dirt.

I took all the horrible stuffing out of the body and soaked the body in a cleaning solution which I've used for many, many years.  As you can see, most of the stains were removed.  Having said all that, she is clean once again and ready to enjoy for many years to come.  When I deep clean these old dolls, they soak for a couple days, then are rinsed and soaked again for another day or so.  After that, I hang them out to dry in the clean air which removes all horrible odors which were once associated with the doll.  Also, all the germs and other bacteria which are contained within very old dolls is removed.  You cannot imagine the filth one sees when these dolls are torn apart.  I digress. While the body is drying, I hand wash the dolls head and get into the corners of their eyes, lips, nose and ears.  I carefully remove the dirt in these tiny areas so they look new once again.

As you can see, she is so precious.  I know there are those out there who disagree with me, but when you find these hard to acquire baby dolls from another era, you just try to bring what you can back to life once more.  Restoring a vintage doll is a very time consuming project and truly, you must know what you're doing.  I knew immediately, this doll had to be completely re-done to bring her back to new again.  Restorations are rather expensive depending on what is necessary to make her whole and beautiful.  I'm very proud of this little darlin', because she is so sweet.  I hope there are many who love her as much as I do.

I will start at the top of her head and work my way down so as not to omit anything in my description.  Starting at the top of her head, she has molded hair which is painted a light blondish/brown color.  She is wearing an adorable head band, which I designed to go with her precious pink and black bow pattern dress.  As you go down to her face, she has blackish/blue eyes, which have been meticulously hand painted.  There are white dots in the center of each eye for her pupils.  Her button nose has nostrils which flows down to her precious rosebud shape lips.  Her lips are closed and painted a soft pink color.  Her chubby baby cheeks have beautiful pink coloring.  The back of this baby's neck is hallmarked "61850", but no identifying name.  All fingers and toes are there and are oh so sweet.

As most of you who follow me know, I pick their outfits based upon the way their faces look and what they speak to my heart.  With this precious face and such a beautiful doll, she had to be in something very special.  These dolls are getting harder and harder to come by, so I wanted this one to be extra special for her new mommy.  I chose this precious pink and black dress with long sleeves.  The front of the bodice comes up high, with a pink cotton sweater which is attached to the bodice.  There are three handmade satin roses, which I created in two shades of pink and one black one.  I tied a large pink satin bow off to the other side of the roses for symmetry.  The sleeves are long on the dress which come down to her wrist, just allowing for her little baby hands to peek out.

The skirt on the dress is gathered very full and has quite a presentation to it.  The main body of fabric is the pink stretch cotton with an overlay of tulle netting with black velvet bows covering the entire surface of the tulle netting.  There are delicate rhinestones between each black velvet bow which emit an auora borealis color.  It looks very pretty against the pale pink fabric.  The dress is "bubbled", which allows it to balloon out along the hemline.  Under the dress, I added a precious pink tulle tutu with black trim to go under her dress for added fullness.  She is wearing soft pink cotton pants which come down just past her knees.  To top the outfit off, she is wearing black Mary Jane shoes with side metal buckle for safe wearing.  She is so precious!

This dolly reminds me so much of the dolls I used to see on the black and white tv's when I was a very little girl.  We were very poor and I could never have any doll this beautiful, but now later in life, I get to enjoy what I never got to have.  Having grown up just after the war in the early 50's, you could not afford such extravagant things as a beautiful doll.  I feel so blessed to share my joy and creations with those from my era who were like me and could never have such beautiful babies.  I hope you like this sweet one and will want to give her a loving home.  Thanks so much for looking.

My dolls are not played with by children who come and visit; I know that sounds mean, but sometimes they play too rough.  My dolls are kept in a doll room specifically for them and are displayed for everyone to enjoy.  All my dolls are truly loved and cared for as though they were my children.  Their clothes are either original to the doll, made by me, or I've tried finding doll clothing from the same era as the doll or find clothing which match the personality of the doll.  We do not smoke and I try very hard to keep a tidy clean home free of dust and odor.  My dolls are clean and most of the time look as though they did when they were sold new.   Depending on how old they are, I do try to be honest in detailing if some of the dolls have bruises, missing toes or fingers or other issues, but that doesn't mean they aren't worth having; for each one is like children.....they are all beautiful in their mothers eyes.  If I've missed something it would never be intentional.

SIZE:

This is the larger size baby doll.  She measures approximately 18" in length.

CONDITION:

This doll is a vintage baby doll which has been completely restored.  As I described above, her original body was in not so good condition, so it had to be restored and soaked for several days to get it back to it's original condition.  She has new stuffing, but is still able to sit and lay without falling all over herself.  I try not to get them too stuffed so you are able to put her in different positions. She is wearing a beautiful pink and black dress with adorable black velvet bows on the fabric.  She has all her fingers and toes and is oh so sweet.  She is a beautiful doll and most difficult to come by in this condition. Please view complete set of photos for thorough description.  I hope you can take a few minutes to look at my other dolls.  God bless you.  Connie
