Burmese "Yoke The " Vintage  Marionette

High quality, original Burmese marionette puppet. In really nice condition, all moving parts work although the costume may have some of the embellishments and jewels missing. The strings are all intact and attached to a wooden cross-piece handle.

The tradition, which was founded in the late 18th century by a royal patron, is known as Yoke thé.

Burmese Marionettes are very intricate and their use requires dexterous skills, as they employ 18 or 19 wires for Male or Female characters respectively, and each puppet is controlled by only one puppeteer

All strings are intact and attached to a cross piece handle. There may be some jewels/sequins/embellishments missing.
