4 different, carved wooden tribal art figures from west Africa

- selling as one lot - 

from left to right:

1. a small standing figure, perhaps Lobi or Fon, perhaps hermafrodite - male & female,

height excl. stand: circa 19,5 cm / circa 7.6 inch,

with severe termite damage, one arm missing, but further firm and stable.

2. the top end of staff / scepter - a Oshe Shango / Ose Sango - of the Yoruba people,

representing a woman kneeling, tribal scarifications on her cheeks, 

with double axe headdress and 5 bead strings,

height excl. modern stand: circa 33 cm / circa 13 inch.

3. a female figure for the top end of a staff,

tribal affilation unknown to us, scarification marks on her cheeks

height excl. modern base: circa 29 cm / circa 11.4 inch.

4. a ceremonial axe or scepter, made of wood, metal and paint,

depicting a female with a zoomorphic object on her head,

 with a metal axe like item from it's snoot, one of it's ears missing,

she has scarification marks next to her mouth and carved bracelets,

perhaps of the Fon people of Benin,

height excl. modern base: circa 30 cm / circa 11.8 inch

all with signs of handling - some dents, scratches, cracks, etc, do see all pictures to judge the condition, the pictures are part of the desciption. 

weight all 4 together: circa  900 gr.

age: unknown, probably second half 20th Century
