Antique French Solid Sterling Silver Ladle
 
Description
A fabulous antique French solid sterling silver ladle by renowned silversmith Emile Puiforcat. Dating from the Belle Époque era,  a handsome piece of considerable gauge throughout. Hallmarked with the French Minerva mark 1st standard, the highest standard of French sterling silver. The mark depicts the profile of Roman goddess Minerva beside the numeral 1. This indicates a silver content of 95% (higher than sterling which is 92.5%). It also bears the silversmith’s mark for Emile Puiforcat consisting of the initials “E.P.” along with the image of a penknife. Puiforcat worked as a silversmith in Paris from 1857 and produced consistently high quality pieces. Altogether a wonderful example of antique French silver which would grace any dining table.

Condition
In good antique condition with just expected wear. Minor dings, scratches and surface wear throughout. Hallmarks are clear and legible.
