I'm offering today an adorable vintage baby doll, which is known as a Plassie Doll from the 1950's era.  She has very big and wide opened brown eyes, which open and shut freely.  This is a larger baby doll which measures approximately 20".  These Plassie dolls came with rubber arms and legs on a soft body.  When I received her, the arms and legs were black and the rubber had broken down.  Therefore, I found another doll, which pretty much matched her old body, but had new arms in hands in vinyl.  Her body has been taken apart and completely cleaned and restored with new filling.

Even though I purchased another doll for the body, I had to take all the horrible stuffing out of the body and soaked the body in a cleaning solution which I've used for many, many years.  As you can see, most of the stains were removed.  Having said all that, she is clean once again and ready to enjoy for many years to come.  When I deep clean these old dolls, they soak for a couple days, then are rinsed and soaked again for another day or so.  After that, I hang them out to dry in the clean air which removes all horrible odors which were once associated with the doll.  Also, all the germs and other bacteria which are contained within very old dolls is removed.  You cannot imagine the filth one sees when these dolls are torn apart.  I digress. While the body is drying, I hand wash the dolls head and get into the corners of their eyes, lips, nose and ears.  I carefully remove the dirt in these tiny areas so they look new once again.

As you can see, she is so precious.  I know there are those out there who disagree with me, but when you find these hard to acquire baby dolls from another era, you just try to bring what you can back to life once more.  Restoring a vintage doll is a very time consuming project and truly, you must know what you're doing.  I knew immediately, this doll had to be completely re-done to bring her back to new again.  Restorations are rather expensive depending on what is necessary to make her whole and beautiful.  I'm very proud of this little darlin', because she is so sweet.  I hope there are many who love her as much as I do.

I will start at the top of her head and work my way down so as not to omit anything in my description.  Starting at the top of her head, she has molded hair which is painted brown color.  As I mentioned above, there is a small amount of paint loss from years of playing from her previous little mommies.  It's not severe, but does have a bit here and there.  She is wearing an adorable head band, which I designed to go with her precious white and blue dress that I designed and created.  As you go down to her face, she has big brown eyes, which open and close freely.  Her button nose has nostrils which flows down to her precious rosebud shape lips.  Her lips are closed and painted a peach color.  Her chubby baby cheeks have beautiful pink coloring.  The back of this baby's neck is hallmarked "IDEAL DOLL, INC, Made in USA, Pat.#2252077".  All fingers and toes are there and are oh so sweet.

As most of you who follow me know, I pick their outfits based upon the way their faces look and what they speak to my heart.  With this precious face and such a beautiful doll, she had to be in something very special.  These dolls are getting harder and harder to come by, so I wanted this one to be extra special for her new mommy.  Even though it's very time consuming, I decided to create and design this precious white cotton dress.  I did smocking on the front bodice, which I added baby blue flowers, which are equally spaced between the smocking.  I added a Peter Pan collar, which has delicate white lace with tiny hearts framing the edge of each collar.  The sleeves are 3/4" long, which come down to the elbows.  The same trim with delicate hearts finish off each sleeve.  I added baby blue sheer bows to each sleeve for added cuteness.  As you go around to the back side of the dress, there are three white buttons for keeping the dress in place.

The skirt on the dress is gathered very full and has quite a presentation to it.  The main body of fabric is white cotton with baby blue fabric heart cut-outs and yellow duckies spaced evenly on the front of the skirt.  I added two rows of oh so sweet baby blue ruffled lace to the hemline on the skirt.  Under the skirt of the dress, I added a baby blue tulle tutu for additional fullness.  Under the tutu, I made bloomers out of the baby blue ducky fabric with white lace framing each leg.  She is wearing white and baby blue cotton crochet booties with large baby blue satin bows on top of each booty.  The baby doll she is pictured with comes with her and I made her a skirt out of the same baby blue fabric with duckies on it.  The two together look so sweet.  I know she will put a smile on your face when you open up the box.

My dolls are not played with by children who come and visit; I know that sounds mean, but sometimes they play too rough.  My dolls are kept in a doll room specifically for them and are displayed for everyone to enjoy.  All my dolls are truly loved and cared for as though they were my children.  Their clothes are either original to the doll, made by me, or I've tried finding doll clothing from the same era as the doll or find clothing which match the personality of the doll.  We do not smoke and I try very hard to keep a tidy clean home free of dust and odor.  My dolls are clean and most of the time look as though they did when they were sold new.   Depending on how old they are, I do try to be honest in detailing if some of the dolls have bruises, missing toes or fingers or other issues, but that doesn't mean they aren't worth having; for each one is like children.....they are all beautiful in their mothers eyes.  If I've missed something it would never be intentional.

SIZE:

This is the larger size baby doll.  She measures approximately 20" in length.

CONDITION:

This doll is a vintage baby doll which has been completely restored.  As I described above, her original body was in not so good condition, so it had to be replaced and restored with another vintage doll body.  That body had to be soaked for several days to get it back to it's original condition.  She has new stuffing, but is still able to sit and lay without falling all over herself.  I try not to get them too stuffed so you are able to put her in different positions. She is wearing custom made dress in white cotton with smocking, which takes me so much time.  She has all her fingers and toes and is oh so sweet.  She is a beautiful doll and most difficult to come by in this condition. Please view complete set of photos for thorough description.  I hope you can take a few minutes to look at my other dolls.  God bless you.  Connie
